fishing report June 24th
*Only a couple of King Mackerels caught over the past week. Out on the end of the pier with live baitfish.
*Only a few spanish mackerel are around, mainly in the morning around sunrise and evening around sunset, but no big runs on them. People are using gotcha plugs and sabiki rigs with diamond jigs on bottom. Also occasionally caught on king rigs.
*Blues are still around but not in as big of numbers. Some days they are having luck with gotchas and jigfish, and also catching them off bottom rigs baited with shrimp and cut baits.
*The flounder bite seems to be picking up... we have been seeing bigger flounder lately. Lots of them around 2 pounds and a few 3-4 pounds. Live minnows are your best bet if you want to catch a flounder, but sometimes you get lucky and can catch them with shrimp and cut baits.
*Sheepsheads all now around... we have caught a few between 2-5 pounds. People are fishing for these right beside the pilings baiting up their hooks with barnacles, crabs, and sand fleas.
*A mix of other small bottom fish are being caught including Croakers, Spots, Pompanos, Mullets, and Pinfish. But no really big catches of any one species of fish. Shrimp works well for bait, but BLOODWORMS work best...
*Nighttime shark fishermen are hooking up with a few sharks, but no big monsters to speak of...
